Bundi, October 6: The historic Bundi Festival will now be held from December 5 to 7, following a change in dates in view of the Panchayati Raj elections. Preparations to give the festival a grand and attractive look were reviewed at a meeting chaired by District Collector Harphool Singh Yadav at the District Collectorate auditorium on Tuesday.
Addressing the meeting, the Collector said efforts had already begun to implement suggestions received to make the festival memorable. He directed officials to ensure that the major events showcase the rich Rajasthani folk music, traditional art and cultural heritage of the region.
He instructed that the Garh Ganesh puja and procession be organised in a well-coordinated manner and commence on time. For the Man Manuhar programme at Sukh Mahal, an English anchor will be arranged to facilitate foreign tourists. An anchoring competition will be organised among school students to select the anchor.
To encourage greater public participation, the Collector directed officials to undertake a large-scale invitation campaign by distributing ‘Peela Chawal’ and pamphlets carrying details of the festival programme.
He also called for online entries from photographers, social media influencers and the general public for an attractive festival poster and logo. The best entry will be selected by a committee. The festival poster will also be unveiled through a special programme at one of the city's historic landmarks.
Directions were also issued to identify a suitable venue for the industrial and handicrafts fair.
Municipal Council Chairman Bharat Sharma assured the meeting that every effort would be made to take the festival to new heights and ensure proper cleanliness across the city.
