KOTA, OCT. 8: Kota’s firefighting and rescue operations have received a major technological boost with the induction of a new Articulating Water Tower (AWT) vehicle costing around ₹10 crore.
The new vehicle was formally inducted into the Kota Municipal Corporation’s fire brigade fleet at the Shrinathpuram Fire Station on Wednesday following a traditional पूजा ceremony. Mayor Anusuya Goswami, Deputy Mayor Vivek Rajvanshi and Municipal Commissioner Om Prakash Mehra were present on the occasion.
The AWT can reach a height of nearly 36 metres and spray water directly onto fires at elevated locations. The vehicle is also equipped with a Thermal Imaging Camera, which will help firefighters locate people trapped inside buildings amid dense smoke and flames.
The new firefighting system is expected to prove particularly useful during fire emergencies in high-rise buildings, commercial complexes and other tall structures. Besides firefighting, the vehicle will also play an important role in rescue operations.
With the number of high-rise buildings increasing in Kota, the new AWT is expected to significantly strengthen the city’s emergency response and fire safety capabilities.
