KOTA, October 18, 2026: A committee constituted to assess the health of ‘Fragrance’, an approximately 23-year-old tigress housed at Abheda Biological Park in Kota, has recommended that she should not be kept in the public display area for the time being, considering her advanced age and current physical condition.
The health assessment was conducted on Sunday in the presence of Assistant Forest Conservator Pankaj Meena and senior veterinary officers Dr Akhilesh Kumar Pandey and Dr Trilok Pasture.
During the examination, the tigress’s body temperature and respiratory rate were found to be within the normal range. However, she did not eat on October 17, while she consumed approximately 2.8 kg of chicken on October 18.
According to the assessment, Fragrance is experiencing difficulties in maintaining body balance. In view of her advanced age and physiological condition, the committee recommended keeping her away from the public display area to minimise the risk of injury and physical stress and to prioritise her health and safety.
Acting on the committee’s recommendations, Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve Regional Director T. Mohanraj and Deputy Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Kota, Pramod Kumar Dhakar, have decided to keep the tigress off display for the time being.
She will be provided with appropriate care, rest and monitoring in the night shelter and enclosure area as required. Her caretaker and senior veterinary officer have been directed to maintain continuous observation and ensure proper care.
The Forest Department is closely monitoring Fragrance’s health and physical condition to ensure her safety, comfort and well-being.
